Gentrification of the Mind

Artists Brian Fernandes-Halloran and Niki Singleton, accompanied a discussion led by author Sarah Schulman about her book "Gentrification of the Mind" The artists constructed an urban landscape from discarded objects and parts of demolished Brooklyn homes before the discussion. During the discussion, the artists gentrified the landscape with black and white paint and displaced the inhabitants, also made from discarded materials, onto the sidewalk.
Sarah Schulman leads a discussion during the the performance about the implications of gentrification, as described in her book, in the present day.
