While participating in Yale's summer program in Norfolk Connecticut, Brian frequented a local mall to take candid photographs. His goal was to capture a sick side of the American consumer. The series took a divergent path. The camera held in Brian's lowered hand, under a coat, was following instincts outside of his conscious goals. It was capturing human moments, often sweet, sometimes troubling, but always relatable. As the photos peer into a deeper psychology of the subjects, a suppressed empathy can be felt guiding the artist's hand and the viewer's gaze.
